Antique c.1830s French couple's portraits in miniature, still together, but we haven't information on their identities and the excellent skilled artist did not sign his or her work. They are offered together, as they should continue to stay, these 190+ years later. From the period referenced as Restoration, or Louis-Philippe, c.late 1820s to mid-1830s. Please, next owner, don't separate them. It is very likely these are their marriage portraits, this handsome man and his very beautiful wife. I found them in France and am working my way through my own collections now. I'm sure you can see why I kept them. The little bit of embroidery trim on each one's clothing is intriguing. It is possible they are Prussian, following the fashion of France, but with small detail of their homeland. Do you see what I mean?  The paintings are in gouache on very thin natural wafer, typical of the genre. Original fine frames have a stringing of contrasting wood, finer than the average from their era. The backing on his image is the old early original vellum (fine thin kid leather).

Very good to excellent condition throughout, both survive without cracks or hairlines. He's superb, and she has a small area notable above and left of her tiara at the oval's rim, mostly covered when in her frame. Wood grain is splendid and the contrast wood color stringing is superb. The original slightly convex cover glass remains on each, perfect. They each have their hanging apparatus, also original and ready to hang. For me, they're part of an extensive longtime collection of fine art, but for many, these become wall art in their antique doll houses, too. Full measurement are found on the photos.
