Fabulous antique French 1850-90s Napoleon III to Belle Epoque era bronze framed & guilloche enamel matted portrait miniature of a child, masterfully done with beautiful colors & background, artist signed or marked and as lovely as they come! Artist signed though I can't quite make it out, appears to be just an initial marking with possibly "90". The portrait itself is gorgeous, exquisite execution and the little girl is just as darling as can be with those large hazel eyes and curly blond hair! The frame is also gorgeous, a large gilded bronze panel with twisted rope style bordering and a field of flour-de-lis. The back of the frame marked simply "France" but boasts both an easel stand and hanging ring. Some cracks and a few chips to the green guilloche enamel mat/ring but still stunning overall. As I've said, I really can't make out the signature but I did include an enlarged scan of it. The portraitist is, obviously, accomplished give the quality of the painting. Just look at those eyes and blonde curls, superb!
Very good condition. As noted, there is some cracking and a few chips to the green enamel ring. Original drop beveled glass and the portrait is superb, not a hint of damage to note. There is a very slight bend to the right side of the bronze frame. Exquisite all the way around! See pictures for measurements.
