A superb very early 1800s hand painted and artist signed portrait miniature of a charming young woman. Original early 1800s French frame, wood with an oval matted inset (see images front and back). Hanging loop is still intact and ready to display in your collection, or in your antique Bru or other doll house setting. Elegant pincurls and bow is her Georgian era, or Charles X (c.1815-1830) coiffure, and her blue bodice Empire gown is another indication of very early 1800s fashion. Both painting and frame are original, protected by the original cover glass.
Very good to excellent for age and type. You can see in the scan, there is a monogram signature at about the 5 o'clock position, And I am unable to determine who R D might be, or if that is correct. Upon taking her out of frame to scan the image, I can see a very very faint hairline across the far right side, not a break, but perhaps a scratch or beginning hairline. I've marked it between 2 "x" marks for your inspection. It doesn't really show up when she's in the frame, but we note any and all possible flaws for your review. Full measurements noted on the photos.
