Elegant antique French Napoleon III to Belle Epoque era artist's paint box, travel sized in rosewood veneers with brass inlays and full of old oil(?) paint tubes and more! One of several old French artist's paint sets or travel painter's boxes that we've added this week, a few of those marked Bourgeois Aine, one J.M. Paillard. This one bears no maker marking that I can see but is just a gorgeous Napoleon III style rosewood box, really quite nice. The paints inside may be too old to use though, I tried squeezing a few and they feel pretty hard. A fun and alluring decorative accent though!
Good to very good condition. The box itself is in great shape with just paint staining on the inside, as seen in the images. Original hardware and locks but missing the key. As noted, the paint tubes all feel pretty hard. I haven't opened up any of them to see if the paint is still usable but I'd say not after all of these years. See pictures for measurements.
