Fabulous antique French Victorian or Napoleon III era hexagonal jewelry casket, a lovely miniature vitrine style box with silvered brass feet & accents and intaglio engraved thick beveled glass top! Always looking for unique pieces and, with this one's six-sided shape, it definitely falls into that category. The lid framed in shaped molding with silvered brass acanthus accents at each corner and pierced or reticulated bead festooned and garland style edging framing the beveled glass insert itself. The interior has its original pale blue lining, including the tufted silk or satin base and the box has a working lock with key, too. A wonderful decorative accent.
Very good condition. Some slight signs of its age but, as you can see, it's in wonderful shape. Some age to the inner lining but entirely intact and, as noted, it has a working lock with old skeleton key. The most notable flaw is a chip to the tapered or flared edge to the rear lid molding, just above the hinge area, but it's really only visible when looking at the piece from the top.
