With his hair swept forward in the Napoleon manner, but sideburns indicating a bit to the end of that era and perhaps into the period known as "Restauration", we know by the red, white and blue flowers (or are they little lapel pins?) he wears, he is a supporter of the Republic and not likely a Royalist. A high collar dark navy blue jacket, likely short if we could see a 3/4 pose, and the thick neck-wrap cravat style might also help us place him in time. Bold of nose, and with a slight smile to his mouth and eyes, and framed well with a thick bevel convex cover glass and a gold-faced mat, all things about him suggest successful birthright. Charming portrait, without signature. Full measurements noted on photos.

Very good to excellent for age and type, his face is only 5/8" from chin to hairline, so don't let the greatly enlarged view throw you off, it is a superbly painted miniature. Small at just 2" x 1 3/4", with an outer frame less than 4" in height, it is a gem of a collection piece. Obvious stature, that mat does have a facing of a low to mid-karat gold (I did not wish to leave it scratched in order to acid test). You can see it adhered to the backing of brass that completes the mount through the wooden outer frame. It has been sealed on the backside so I did not break that seal to access the painting. The glass has been cleaned already and it shows beautifully.
