A Palais Royal sewing box with implements in mother of pearl and 18k gold, 3 18k and kiln-fired enamel cartouche on the items (see images). Beautiful old burled wood casket, perfect but for a very small warp to the front of the box, just enough to keep the lock pin from engaging with the lock, though original key is present. The interior has a fine mirror and most of the old original sewing tools and perfume or salts flask or flacon inside. Imperfect, it does display very well, but is priced lower than most. Perhaps you need the implements from this one's lift-out tray, or can find spares to fill it in fully. Full measurements are noted on the photos.
Very good to excellent for age and type. This old one is imperfect, dates to c. 1810-20s. I'll list imperfections for your review: beautiful and complete box, mother of pearl cartouche and escutcheon in place and no chips or cracks to the burl veneer, but a slight warp or lift to the front of the box, keeping it from engaging the lock pin, so even though we have the original key, it does not lock. Thimble and 1 silk winder are missing, 1 remaining silk winder is not complete. Scent flask is excellent but missing stopper. Mother of pearl bodkin has a break at one end. Needle case and stiletto fine, but for a restoration on inner lip of the needle case (see images). I can see that there has been a restoration on one finger loop of scissors - holding very tight and nicely done but visible. Best thing about the flaws is the reduced price.
