Found in France, this is a highly appealing, charming framed set of colored sketches, each on heavy rag paper and framed as a set along with 2 floral bouquets with dedications of friendship and love. Each portrait has a childlike quality to it, and is attended by a hand-written description of the person. Each is surrounded by a reflective foiled gold filet and within the same large mat, framed in a wood frame. On back, sealed in early 1800s and with the framer's label still affixed. The paper label reads, in English: "Gold on wood frames" cleaning of prints and paintings, H MICK, 65, Rue de Rome, 65, PARIS". Full measurements noted on the photos.
Very good to excellent condition for age and type. The drawings/paintings are wonderful! Interior glass could use a cleaning. Some natural aging discoloration on mat and also 100% rag paper art works, typical of age. It is tempting to open it up to see if there's more information behind the paintings, or sketches which are hand colored in watercolor, to clean the inside of the glass and remove a floating bit or two, but since it's the original seal and is a fabric rather than just paper, I chose not to disturb it. There are 2 places on the frame where a little edging is disrupted or missing, otherwise it is wonderful considering it's 200 years old now.
