Superb antique Swiss Victorian era Black Forest hand carved 10.5" match holder, a "Fruits of the Hunt" themed plaque with fox, game hen or bird, rifle, canteen & powder horn and match holding satchel! Our favorite style, in the form of one of those fabulous old hunt motif plaques, this one only 10.5" tall but all of the figures and marvelous detail you could hope for. Surely meant for matches in the kitchen or by the fireplace, the satchel perfectly sized and that diamond shaped carve-out in the middle would have had a sandpaper type striker pad (which we can restore from normal black/gray or tan if you'd like). One you're guaranteed to love, don't miss it!
Very good condition, age considered. As is evident, the striker portion has been worn or lost over the years. There is also a reparied break at the narrow portion of the rifle but, attached belt/strap and possibly the tip of the fox's foot. Likely a nip or two elsewhere but, as you can see, just gorgous!
