Lovely, highly detailed smaller antique Victorian to early Edwardian era Black Forest hand carved 10" tall jewelry box or chest with charming two bird & nest figural top, 3-tier with four hinged upper compartments and larger space below! Complete with lock and key, this little treasure is ready for your small treasures. Measurements are noted on the photos, but it's 10" tall with the birds (7 1/4" tall at the lid panel) and nest are nicely carved and in quite complete form (note chip to rear center leaf). We can never keep these chests in inventory when they're this nice.
Very good condition for age and type. There are a few sections of the tiny molding on the sides (the portions that frame the center foliate carvings). Chips to the feet tips and, as you can see in the images of the rear, there is a section of the base molding missing and also two feet missing that would have been on the protruding portion of the front. Carved entirely by hand, most likely linden wood, Swiss carvers. Original purple inner lining, mostly intact and in fine shape. Working lock with key. See images for all measurements.
