I have a matched pair of these 30 1/4" tall wall cabinets - will offer them separately so watch for the other if you're wanting them both. This is 1 fine old English Edwardian era walnut display cabinets, wall or tabletop use. The old wood is just gorgeous, as is the craftsmanship. I found the cabinet (and its mate) in England. They're so difficult to find - collector's cabinets suitable to display anything from portrait miniatures, to cigar cases, to sports memorabilia or Grand Tour souvenirs. For a while I had a variety of Antique French sewing etui displayed. The hinged glass vitrine door swings open and reveals 4 thick and edge-polished shelves, cut to rest on wood supports at each side. Very simple to set up and could certainly be lighted from above. The cabinet has wonderful age to it. Might once have been a billiards cabinet in a posh den or clubroom. Full measurements noted on photo, including the glass aperture of the door. Shown here with some antique items to give a sense of scale and use, but of course they are not included. You are buying 1 Edwardian cabinet in this offering (cabinet #2). Very good to excellent condition for age and type. The external wood is just really beautiful in presentation, as you can see, noting the upper front moulding has restored breaks across it (see images). Rich burled grain veneer on the fronton, or top arch, and fine quality English walnut. The trim at base makes it easily displayed on a surface such as shelf or mantel or table, or it has hardware on back, to the side, which can anchor the cabinet to wall. The final photo shows this and another one (sold separately) on my kitchen table so you can see that it will stand well on its own, but you can also see it's a tall and narrow piece of furniture, quite heavy, and I would at least anchor to a back wall if possible. A full 30 1/4" tall, and 20" wide, it is an impressive and elegant cabinet. Photos show that the fronton up top has been attached and braced, which seems original. I feel quite sure the thick glass shelves are not original, and the front edge has been rounded and polished so it is neither unsightly nor dangerous to the touch. The door glass is original and one can see laid glass lines in the old glass. The backing on this one is the very old original, as is the interior veneer on the back of interior (some rippling, which we're doing a glue/clamp improvement on today). I mention it because it is slightly different than #1 cabinet, which lining veneer and back are, we believe, replacements. This is cabinet #2. You are buying one cabinet in this offering.
