A very special set of 6 French sterling silver buttons in bas relief and with kiln-fire enamel. The maker is familiar, A. Risler & Carré, silversmiths jewelers, 18 rue St. Honore, Paris. 1897, André Risler and his partner Georges Carré opened their shop at the fashionable Rue du Faubourg Saint-Honoré in Paris, immediately gaining the finest reputation and an elite clientele. The company offered the finest silverware and exclusive jewellery. The untimely death of Mr. Carré led to the closure of the firm in 1912. We have bought and sold (and kept) fine sterling tableware, flatware sets for 30 years - a very top firm and a top tier address, as well. Even now St. Honore is the core and heart of the most elite designers and shops. Back to the buttons. I'm not a button dealer. I do very much appreciate the unique existence of this set and history of their maker, however. The set would have been c. 1880-1910, Art Nouveau. As noted, never used and ready to thrill a collector, or be made up into pairs of cufflinks, perhaps, as which they would fetch double our price. Full measurements noted on our photos.
Very good to excellent condition, unused, still in original presentation box which does show a bit of its age but retains the gold embossment and displays beautifully, The box interior is quite pristine as you can see. I did not silver polish the buttons at all, and perhaps their next owner will want to do that.
