With the tiny profile of an eagle's head affirming this to be 18k solid gold (French control mark), we know it was produced after 1838. Elegant goldsmith's work, burin engraved in a gorgeous adornment that feels Louis XV, doesn't it. The bulbous hinged cap opens to reveal the 18k gold stopper, which remains with the flacon/flask. The stem of it would have run through a small cork, which has deteriorated and been lost to the ages. One could certainly fashion one and return this one to use, carved in halves and attached around the stem. Measurements are noted on the photos.
Very good to excellent condition, a tiny ding to the gold stopper's bulb. The original cork which would have fit onto the stem of that 18k gold stopper is no longer there - deterioration from age. Can be replaced with a little skill, patience. The flask is beautifully crafted, and has no chips or nips, not even in that slender gold-shrouded long neck. And the generous 18k gold collar and cap have no dings, no dents, remain just stunning in artistry and condition. Eagle's head on both cap and collar, separately. Stopper is also 18k gold.
