Earliest 1800s carved mother of pearl set for the writer, missing only the original dip pen. One can certain replace that one item with a more easily found French mother of pearl dip pen. What you have remaining in the original fitted box, necessaire, are these: letter opener, wax seal (matrix not yet engraved), quill blade and the scraping 'eraser' tool. The leather case remains in beautiful condition for age, as do the 4 desk set implements. Full measurements noted on photos.
Very good to excellent condition for age and type, consideration for 1 missing item: pen handle fitted for quill (or later dip pen tips). No breaks to any of the beautifully carved mother of pearl tools. Some age showing on the very old steel blades but they do remain very sharp. I have not tried to polish away any corrosion. Interior silk velvet lining is excellent, and lid silk fabric is complete, not torn nor frayed. Very slight warp to box, hinge and clasp working perfectly well. A rare fine Palais Royal set.
