Superb antique French Louis Philippe to Napoleon III era wheel cut crystal single desk top inkwell with heavy brass or bronze collar and elegant rosewood & boulle lid! Yes, this would surely have fit right into an opulent boulle inkstand but it's simply gorgeous nonetheless. I've been saving it for years in hopes that I would find a great old boulle lap desk or writer's stand but decided that someone out there is likely doing the same so....here you go. A gorgeous piece even with no stand though, look at the remarkable detail to the thick cut crystal body! Amazing!
Very good to excellent condition. Possibly a tiny nip or two to the crystal body but no larger chips, cracks or flaws. There is one small 'hole' chip in the center rear of the lid boulle overlay but no other notable flaw. See pictures for all measurements.
