Fine antique French Belle Epoque era “eglomise” or reverse painted glass depiction of the Eiffel Tower, an 1889 souvenir of the Paris Exposition Universelle displayed in a gilded ormolu or bronze frame and in wonderful condition! Though most Parisians despise the Eiffel Tower, it has become one of the most recognized landmarks by tourists and will always hold that allure and represent the city in which it stands. A fine depiction here with a French flag waving at the top, what looks like a steam ship in the foreground and a small banner below that reads “Paris - La Tour Eiffel”. A marvelous souvenir for your Paris trip and the condition is fantastic.
Excellent condition. I see no separation or loss to the paint on the back side of the glass, as vivid and vibrant as when made surely. The frame has a bit of wear to the gilt finish, the coppery hue of the bronze or ormolu showing on some of the raised accenting. It has the original card backing with easel stand and brass hang ring. The lower back of the frame also marked “Depose 314”. See pictures for all measurements.
