Charming antique sampler, a child's work mastering her stitches, wool and silk on linen, it has a spaniel, another dog with child, stag, pheasant, butterfly chalet, dancing couple, a camel, flowers and exotic bird, and a geometrical border. Framed in a simple gold on wood homemade frame, it's most likely the work of a quite young girl, 5-7, then framed for her room or her mother's. Full measurements noted on the photos.
Very good to excellent condition for age and type, there are no holes nor tears or repairs. Charming with animals nicely done, and wool and silk yarns with little or no fade to the palette. A simple homemade wood frame that has been painted in gold, it likely was either hung as you see it, or with a glass panel which we're not going to replace for the simple reason that it will ship with safer result without glass. Glass, if desired, can be easily replaced by its next owner. I love these without glass so you can see the textures, colors, stitches even better.
