In superb condition, really, this c.1870-1920 French box is mahogany, I'm pretty sure and trimmed out with excellent and delicate dore bronze appliqués in the French Empire manner. Beautifully trimmed, not a single bit of all that appliqués is missing, or loose. Very fine sculpting to the casts, as well. I'm sure it was a jewelry box initially, but it is perfect as a cigar server or desktop box, as well. Full measurements noted on the photos.
Very good to excellent condition for age and type. Finer quality than most of similar aesthetic, rather opulent appliqués and edge trim. There is a trim piece which looks like an escutcheon for a lock/key, but the box was not made with lock. No warp, and it closed snug and evenly. Very nice!
