Just a fun little treasure from Belle Epoch, Boin-Taburet, one of my favorite French silversmith firms. Obviously it was a gift to someone who either treasured it very well and never used it, or it wasn't appreciated at all and put aside. You can see it's the type bookmark that slides between pages, the Fleur-d'lys sticking up top of the pages. A wonderful item for the reader in your realm, especially if that is you. Full measurements noted on the photos. Oh, it is not fully steering - it is, as with most smallish silver objects of its era in France, .800/1000 silver (boar's head in profile), which is sturdier for use. Sterling in a small item is prone to bend.
Very good to excellent condition throughout. This one has never been engraved, and certainly could be. Dates c.1880-1900, appears to have never been used. The box shows a little age to the outside, not much, and the interior is excellent in claret red silk. Box is fitted exactly for this bookmark.
