The artist has left us only initials to claim his or her stunning little painting. I have no identity for her, either, but this is truly a superb miniature portrait. While I found her in France, but something about her just seems English, Georgian era to me. Do you agree? The face is just beautiful, and her yellow fichu broadly draped brings up the gold in her hair. I know I have the era correct with her. Housed in a 12k gold-paneled brass frame with hanging loop in back. The gold would more likely be 18k if French, by the way. It's a slender facing, thicker by far than a plating or foil, and can be seen from the side where it attaches to the body of the frame. I've had quite a few made in this way from this period. She is a larger painting of the era, displays in eye-catching splendor.
Very good to excellent condition throughout, age and type considered. There are no breaks, no flaws notable. Original convex cover glass in place and not even bends or dents to the pink gold 12k frame facing. Just stunning! Full measurements noted on the photos, 3 1/2" X 3" Oval. A little large to wear as a pendant, but certainly pretty enough.
