Recently in from France, I'm told the proper name for this long ecclesiastical stole is a maniple. I'm not Catholic, and always appreciate the help of people who know more about the various vestments. That said, we love these made up into the tops of fabulous throw pillows, and so do decorators. This one has 2 suitable panels, silk with silk embroidery and trimmed out in gold metallic fringe and trim. Full measurements noted on photos.
Very good condition for age and type, the materials are in very good condition for age, and while there seems to be some stain higher up on the 39" long panel, the areas one would utilize to make up into pillows is nicely preserved and bright. The cream silk is a brocade, adding beauty and texture. Trim is gorgeous, repeats the red and gold of the round with stylized cross embroidered.
