Fine antique Victorian to early Edwardian era 17 1/4" tall hand carved Black Forest style cross or crucifix with lighter wood finish, expired Christ or corpus figure and "INRI" pique or scroll above!  Never have been involved in an organized religion, the love, care and artistic aspects put into these pieces has always been alluring.  Seeing similar works on display in museums worldwide, not to mention all of the magnificent old cathedrals spread throughout.  You don't have to be a part of the religious to truly appreciate all of these fantastic old religious works of art.  This one an altar or freestanding display piece.  Devotional or decorative, they still possess some sort of power.

Very good condition.  Possibly a small nip or two to the wood carvings but, as you can see, this one has obviously been cherished over it's 100 or so years.  The only real notable flaw or damage is to the "INRI" pique, with the banner style sides chipped somewhat.  See images for all measurements.
