Historically important for the age - this one nears 300 years. From the era of Louis XV to XVI, c.1750s, 270 years, she survives in her original 18k gold-fronted frame, tiny as most portrait miniatures are of that era, and with her beautiful face preserved but her bodice and gown mostly lost to perhaps someone's errant attempt to clean it. In her era, these miniature portraits were usually housed in a small hinged case, shagreen or perhaps ivry, and usually without any cover glass. She would have been fragile once removed from her small case. So, while she is lovely, her value is reduced. The little frame, viewed from the side, you're able to see the thin gold front panel. Not foil, but to be measured in microns not millimeters in thickness. She was someone of nobility, that we know.

Fair to good condition, as noted above. No breaks in her wafer, but it has been rubbed or otherwise her gown/bodice painting damaged. But her face and hair and blue ribbon remain, as does her gold mounted frame. There is not a cover glass. In this type, usually none. The thickness of the mount shows us there never was one, as well does experience with these which were mostly encased in a hinged etui. As she is. Still charming!
