Another stunningly handsome gentleman, his portrait done by Gabriel-Aristide PASSOT (1797-1875), French artist, listed and in museum collections and offered through the world's top auction houses. You can research this artist, perhaps figure out who this gentleman was in his time. The memento might have been a gift to his bride, a thick lock of his dark brunette hair is preserved perfectly on the backside of the double locket, just as it was 170 or so years ago. His fashion is that between Charles X and Napoleon III, which along with the artist's working years, helps us anchor him in time.

Very good to excellent condition. No wear to the bale, suggesting it was treasured rather than worn. A heavy-in-hand piece, gold tested and there is a tiny tiny French eagle's head punch on the bale, as well. Precision crafted with a hinge and clasp, both thick convex polished cover glasses, front and back, in perfect condition, too. Measurements noted on photos, but consider that handsome perfect portrait face is only 1/2", chin to hairline. Really quite amazing, the art of the miniature!
