A beautiful antique French worked silk on silk embroidery ecclesiastical robe, stole, chasuble, Catholic vestment in cardinal crimson or blood/claret red. Entirely hand sewn, the embroidered cross is in an elongated flame stitch, entirely silk. Lining seems to be a heavy silk, or possibly a linen silk blend. Whether for display or wear, or to make up into opulent throw pillows - this one was found in France. I am not Catholic, and ask forgiveness if I've called it by the wrong name. Shown front and back, and our measurements are noted on the photos.
Very good to excellent condition for age and type, this one dates late 1800s to earliest 1900s, and is antique. Heavy silk satin with embroidery worked directly on it. The edge trim is a braid passementerie, also antique French. Large panels, both front and back. We have several other stoles and alter cloths available, some shown with this one in final photo - all pieces offered and sold separately.
