One thinks of Messoinier and the Orientalist movement greats, seeing this charming oil painting. Quite realistically done, and evocative of Arabian nights, it shows a flag-bearing warrior on horseback. Nicely framed. We do not think this is antique, but it is vintage and a fine decorative painting. Frame is wood (see from back) and the painting within is intimate at 7" x 5". The elaborate frame is 13 3/4" x 11 3/4" and it is 3" in depth. Purchased in France decades ago.
Very good to excellent condition, no damage at all, and the frame is also in fine form. Oil painting on panel, signed R. Wilson. We think it is not the original Robert Wilson, but signed in a manner of French "apres" or after that artist's work, as we see in miniature portraits from earlier. Not a print, it is an oil painting and is beautifully composed, and in a warm calming palette.
