A gorgeous old thing, loads of hand sewn sequins on a silk organza-like gauzy leaf (double, front and back), and in an array that highlights the green to pink shimmering of those stunning mother of pearl sticks. Spines are bone, not a single one lost. The fan is 9.5" long, opens to 18". The fan came in this box, but I'm unsure if it's the original. It certainly fits and protects it well, but the notations on back mention black. You decide, just mentioning.  Not the intricate pique like inlays on the face side, I have never seen a mother of pearl fan inlaid thus, though I am first to admit I am not a fan expert. I simply seem to have collected a lot of beautiful old ones over the decades. Many we listed and sold right away, the Austrian ones (to museum), lots of ostrich feather beauties through the decades, with elaborate gold or sterling monograms, crowns, etc., but I have still a crate of archival stored antique fans. If you're a collector, please bookmark our site and come back regularly. I must have 40 of them still to list. And if you're an expert and recognize this fan for its maker, please email us. TIA.

Very good to excellent condition for age and type. There are no breaks in guards or sticks, spines are bone, intact all the way to the ends. The sequins are remarkably intact and gorgeous. The only note to be made is a little fold split to the old silk organza here or there. Shows beautifully. I believe you could actually use this one to the admiration of all around you, but be careful. Lots of photos to evaluate condition with your own expert eye. I just get distracted by the beauty. It will come in the box it was in when I bought it in Paris. Fits perfectly, but the writing on back makes me unsure if it's original to this fan. Measurements noted on the photos.
