Rare, these are harder and harder to source. I buy all of them in France and this is probably the 2nd smallest we've had, either created for a child (likely) or as a doll house furniture item, accessory. A staple in France, we see the frames in paintings, and in a recent episode of "Victoria"; this one is Victorian (Napoleon III) era. Not quite 12" for the longest horizontal bars and base, and the side supports and arm is about 9" tilted up. While these do come apart for easy storage, this one can probably ship put together, so I didn't dismantle it. Full measurements noted on the photos. NOTE: Shown in final 2 with other embroidery frames we're listing at the same time, just trying to show sizes for you. They are sold separately. Just the small one in this offering.
Very good to excellent condition for age and type. All parts are there, and it's a lovely and functioning work frame. Very pretty wood, not sure if it's maple or what but has the look of maple. I'm not very good at identifying various old European woods, sorry. No breaks. The pieces come apart or go together easily and smoothly. NOTE: For use, the round wooden 'nuts' would be on the other side as you mount your sewing project, to tighten and stretch it to your desired tension.
