Elegant antique French hallmarked sterling silver 38oz tea or coffee pot with classic seashell accented pattern, baluster shaped fluted body and gadrooned accenting lid & base, solid ebony or ebonized walnut handle and in wonderful condition! Nothing overly frilly here, just that classical French styling with the minor addition of the seashell shapes at the sides, easy enough to fit into an existing service if you wish. Nice larger size, the pot holds roughly 38 fluid ounces (with about 1/4" to spare from the rim) and weighs 25.4 troy ounces (790 grams). The separate pieces bear the French Minerve or Minerva hallmark, the tiny number "1" within those marks means it's in .950 silver (95% pure and so just above the .925 standard for "sterling" silver). The silversmith marks are for Gombert & Bibollet, Paris circa 1913-1924. A truly elegant old French pot, enjoy!
Very good to excellent condition. Possibly a tiny dimple or two but no larger dents, damage or repairs to note. I just noticed, while working up the images, that the finial is slightly askew but I'll straighten it out before mailing. See pictures for all measurements.
