Elegant antique French hallmarked sterling silver 52oz tea or coffee pot with Rococo style spiral fluted body, rocaille & acanthus accenting, baluster shaped body, foliate accented finial and in wonderful condition! Gorgeous all the way around and don't you just love the split sterling handle? Nice larger size, the pot holds roughly 52 fluid ounces (with about 1/4" to spare from the rim) and weighs 26.24 troy ounces (816 grams). The separate pieces bear the French Minerve or Minerva hallmark, the tiny number "1" within those marks means it's in .950 silver (95% pure and so just above the .925 standard for "sterling" silver). The silversmith marks are for Emile Hugo, Paris circa 1853-1880. A truly elegant old French pot, enjoy!
