Elegant antique French hallmarked sterling silver 2pc caviar serving set, an 8 7/8" base plateau or tazza with festooned seashell accented border and 6 1/8" floater dish, both with wheel cut glass and both in wonderful condition! Two pieces, the larger footed tazza or plateau and the inner tapered bowl/dish and we think it's wonderfully suited to be an impressive caviar service but that doesn't limit its uses at all.  A cake/dessert plated with jam or sweetmeats dish?  They really could be used for anything.  Both with sterling silver rims, the plateau with a large silver footed base.  All bear the French Minerve or Minerva hallmark, the tiny number "1" within those marks means they're in .950 silver (95% pure and higher than the .925 standard for "sterling" silver).  The silversmith marks that I can find are for Albert Schiffmacher, Paris circa 1912-1920s.  Gorgeous!

Very good condition.  The pieces may not be original to each other, I can't seem to find a silversmith mark on the smaller 'floater' piece but the style with gadrooned or festooned borders and wheel cut fluting, along with the starburst pattern in the bases, all look wonderful together.  No dents, damage or repairs to the silver and no chips, cracks or damage to the glass.  See pictures for all measurements.
