Gorgeous antique French Louis Philippe era sterling silver 10" sauce or gravy boat, elegant fluted bordering with solid silver foliate side handles, attached under tray and in fabulous condition! I'll have to double check but this may be the only piece of its kind that we currently have available! Hard to believe, we did have several sauce or gravy boats but I guess they've all been sold. This piece as elegantly French as can be with a glossy recently polished surface, unique shaping with fluted border top and bottom. Both the vessel and attached base tray bear the French Minerve or Minerva hallmark, the tiny number "1" within those marks means they're in .950 silver (95% pure and higher than the .925 standard for "sterling" silver). The silversmith marks are for Jean Francois Veyrat, Paris circa 1832-1840. Heavy, too, the piece weighs 24.8 troy ounces (772gm) so you know it's overly thick gauge silver and built to last for generations! We really have found some truly superb old French & English sterling silver lately but I've been terribly slow at getting it listed so watch in the coming months.
