Beautiful antique French Belle Epoque era sterling silver & glass 9.5" raised serving piece, compote or centerpiece with wheel cut scalloped gold rim, fluted pattern and fabulous condition! Nicely sized and won't this one be perfect holding a variety of colorful fresh fruit at the dinner table! Thick glass bowl or dish on top with a beautiful scalloped rim and crisp, sharp wheel cut edges & fluted pattern. The base bears the French Minerve or Minerva hallmark, the tiny number "1" within that mark designates it as being in .950 silver (95% pure and higher than the .925 standard for 'sterling' silver). The silversmith marks are for J. Gruhier, a Paris maker founded in 1897. An elegant old French piece, don't miss it!
Very good condition. One small chip to the rim of the glass dish, it has been touched up with gold paint so it's masked but there (and I've made sure it is visible in our images). The sterling silver base has no dents, damage or repairs but appears to have a newer clear glue holding it to the glass. See pictures for measurements.
