Antique early 19th century Stubbs and Kent, Longport, a dark blue Staffordshire transferware 7.5" plate with fruit and flowers, thought to be by Joseph Stubbs. Joseph, son of Benjamin Stubbs was baptized September, 1786. The first we hear of him as a potter is as partner with John Taylor in 1816, which partnership dissolved in 1817, after which Joseph seems to have taken his business to America where these darkest blue pottery creations were at height of popularity. While my auction information from the anonymous collector's copious notes about her purchases states the plate is c.1810, it may well be slightly later, 1818-28, and an American pottery.  Fine museum quality plate, pattern, it survives in beautiful condition for display. Full measurements noted on photos.

Very good to excellent condition throughout. I find no chips nor cracks, no damage nor loss. A perfectly set transfer, noting high quality in craftsmanship of both engravers and plate decorators. The back of the pottery is slightly discolored by time, and an unusual crackle which does not seem like crazing so much as perhaps a kiln result, perhaps indication of variations in the stone/clay Stubbs used in this year's process. It does not appear to be glaze crazing - you judge. Face of plate is exquisite, no crazing.
