A rare 18th century portrait miniature painted in oil on wood panel, beveled in back and apparently never framed, this is a clergyman or religious officiate dating c.1750-80, and is likely French. I can make out a signature across his upper arm, but cannot read it. Wonderful painting for antique doll house, by the way. Full measurements noted on the photos.
Good to very good condition for age and type, the painting remains beautiful and without loss of paint, but as you can see, there has been a clean break to the wooden panel upon which it is painted, and that has an old restoration. One can see it mostly at certain angles of light. Displays well.
