A beautiful example of a needlepoint bell pull, very nicely preserved, and with a feeling of 'sampler' to it, repeats of birds and figures repeating. Entirely hand crafted, it is nicely backed by a dual-coloration heavy silk fabric, and with a lovely cast brass hanging hardware up top. The panel measures 56" long and 8" wide, finished as you see it. It has been in my collections for decades, rolled in archival tissue and it has no stains, no odors, no flaws to report, really. Full measurements noted on the photos.
Very good to excellent condition throughout, ready to hang as a bell pull or ornament, or would be wonderful remade as the focal point in a pair of down-filled and opulently trimmed throw pillows, a vertical orientation to the pattern. I see a heavy silk or silk velvet backing and side panels, perhaps a piping edge where it joins the needlepoint, 2-3 elegantly fringed decorator throw pillows. The background is an interesting warm gray/taupe and a unique and charming combination of colors in this creation.
