Elegant antique French 1819-1838 Louis XVIII to Louis Philippe era hallmarked .800 (nearly sterling) solid silver 6pc entremet, luncheon or fruit/cheese knives with unique shaped blades and crest or shield inlaid jet black ebonized wood handles! A set of six so these will surely be reserved for your smaller, more intimate get togethers. All gorgeous and as near pristine as one could hope for. All bear the French hallmarks that date them between 1819-1838, the tiny number "2" in the lower right of the marks means they're in .800 silver (80% pure and so just below the .925 standard for "sterling" silver). The silversmith marks are legible and quite unique as there are several of them, perhaps each submitted as sample works to earn the commission? A lovely set no matter!
Very good to excellent condition, age considered. No bends or damage to the silver blades and no cracks or damage to the ebonized wood handles. A bit of denting to the silver handle end caps visible. See pictures for weight and measurements.
