Delightful antique French Napoleon III or Victorian era mother of pearl & abalone marquetry 2" thimble or needle case, a lovely etui in a miniature knife box shape! The interior of this one has narrow slots on each side and it would have had thin wafer dividers for different lengths or thicknesses of needles surely. In the shape of those gorgeous Georgian era knife or cutlery boxes with a forward slanted lid and shimmering pearl & multi-color abalone on all sides. Wonderful.
Good condition. There are some signs that a few mother of pearl tiles have either been restored or re-glued, some slight chipping in areas and, as pointed out above, the interior dividers are missing (though we may be able to cut some if desired, just let us know). See pictures for measurements.
