Delightful antique French Napoleon III era Palais Royal "vide poche", jewelry or trinket dish, a horse drawn cart with hand painted porcelain dish featuring a colorful bird and nest with eggs! On the original alabaster plinth and in good form, it's a charming bedside table item for your jewelry's overnight repose, as well. Often referred to as a "vide poche", which directly translates to "empty pocket", the little trays like these are icons of 19th c. French decor. Use it as you will, or just display. One of two charming Palais Royal carts we're adding this week, this one more as a jewelry holder and the other a goat pulled cart with a ribbed inkwell. Don't miss either, they're fabulous grouped and displayed!
Very good to excellent condition. Possibly a tiny nip or two to the alabaster base but no larger chips, cracks or damage to it or the porcelain dish. See pictures for all measurements.
