Fine antique French hallmarked Belle Epoque Victorian era sterling silver chocolate or tea cup & saucer set, each with a wonderful machined or engraved "belle fleur" or bellflower & foliage style pattern! Isn't this pair wonderful! Perfect larger size for a breakfast treat, fill it with granola topped yogurt, fresh fruit or even an icy dessert later in the day. The French Minerve or Minerva hallmark on each piece, the tiny number "1" within those marks designate it as being in .950 silver (95% pure and higher than the .925 standard for "sterling" silver). Silversmith marks are for Paul Tonnelier, Paris c. 1882-1889. One of only a few elegant old French chocolate or tea cup & saucer sets that we currently have available, along with a host of exquisite antique French, European & American sterling silver, so be sure to browse some while you're with us. Thanks!
Very good condition. There is a slight bend to one side of the cup's base rim. Possibly a tiny dimple or two but, as you can see, there are no larger dents, no damage or repairs. See pictures for measurements. NOTE: These chocolate cups are, relative to the normal, huge -larger by far than a typical tea cup, and grossly larger than the French 'cafe'' or coffee cup, which is a demi-tasse. The sizes and weights are noted in our images.
