Elegant antique French sterling silver double open salt or sweet meat caddy with acanthus accented center handle, guilloche style engraved base and thick wheel cut & intaglio engraved glass! The satin-frosted & intaglio etched or engraved double cup of this one looks so much like fine Lalique glass items, doesn't it, but we haven't a signature we can rely upon to point to it being that. The silver is marked with a French Minerve #1, which guarantees we have fine .950/1000 (95% pure) French silver here, though, and that certainly speaks to the quality. The silversmith mark is for Francois Marceau, Paris circa 1878-1890s. Use it for sweet meats at the table or side table, or as a large double open salt, it'll elevate the elegance of your table.
Very good condition. There are 2-3 tiny edge nips so the glass but no larger chips, no cracks, damage or repairs to note. There is a bit of faint dimpling to the round base, a push to the front bottom edge visible in the images. See pictures for measurements.
