I found this one in France, and I feel sure it's French carved, but it does have appeal for collectors of Black Forest carving, as you can see. A nice sized frame, and it has a 1" shadow box interior to the aperture, so one can add glass, spacer, and something with some depth to it. Likely held a bride's veil, or dried flowers, but would display an antique purse beautifully. Can be horizontal or vertical, the carving is even and excellent. We are not going to cut a glass for it, since that's always an issue with shipping, but it would be quite simple to replace one. Full measurements, including aperture, are noted on the photos. Dates mid to late 19th century.
Very good to excellent condition for age and type. I can find only 2 very small and innocuous nicks to it, and I've marked those. In display, they do not show, as you can see. Underside only. A very charming carved frame, would be perfect for a mirror, as well.
