Delightful antique Victorian era Black Forest hand carved 5.5" tall single desktop inkwell in the form of a perched wise old owl figure with fine detail and large glaring two-toned glass eyes! Just love these figural inkwells, this one a bit unique in that it has what appears to be a clasped travel style inkwell insert inside. Just tilt his head back and you see the brass fixture, I'm sure that it had the glass ink pot when I bought it. I likely removed when cleaning but couldn't find it at the time of photographing. I'll look around more and hopefully locate it. In any event, this one is fabulous. A few flaws from age but wonderful nonetheless.
Very good condition. A chip to his right side ear tuft on the head and a few of his long talon tips have been chipped off. As noted above, the inner glass ink pot is currently missing but I'll keep searching. See pictures for all measurements.
