I've bought lots of these (both singles and pairs) over the years, and most of them we've sold again. I've got a few now that I'm going to use. My plan is to build them into cabinetry renovation in kitchen, and also to have a 4" depth box frame backing made for one that can be wall-mounted as a cabinet in bathroom, mirror back and lined with glass shelves, to use as as upscale medicine cabinet. Might recess the cabinet part into the wall instead. You'll surely come up with great decorator ideas of your own. But in fact, these hang on a wall beautifully just as the fine art and sculpture they are. Here we have a HUGE antique Victorian era French Black Forest style hand carved 25 1/4" x 23" cabinet or furniture door panel, now a fabulous wall hanging decorative plaque with hunt themed hare or rabbit at the center with foliage & vine surroundings and wonderful decorative appeal! Wouldn't it look lovely with custom made gilt wood frame, or simply hung as is really! We've offered many old Black Forest hunt themed wall plaques over the years, this more French in style and is actually from a cabinet or furniture door. Fabulous detail, the carving is mounted on the solid oak panel and has quite a bit of depth to it. Ready-to-hang or you might want to build into your cabinetry; use as a door for a wall cabinet for medicine chest use in a bathroom; or put in a frame to display as the work of art it truly is. It was once a door to a large cabinet or bar, and does have the lock hardware but no hinges. Fabulous for a wall ornament in a Country French kitchen or den. Actually, it would even look great in any setting where fine architectural salvage pieces might add to the warmth and aesthetic, even modern. This panel dates 19th century, c. 1830-80s.
Very good condition. Thick & heavy old growth European oak, the piece weighs 8.5 lbs. Some slight signs of age but no notable damage or repairs. See pictures for measurements.
