Elegant antique French hallmarked sterling silver 4pc open or master salt set with original shaped & wheel cut glass inserts, matching spoons and all in the original fitted storage and/or presentation box! All with an ornate rococo style including scrolling foliage, rocaille and acanthus accented cabriole style legs. All bear the post-1878 French Minerve or Minerva hallmarks, even the spoons. The tiny number "1" within those marks means they're in .950 silver (95% pure so higher than the .925 standard for "sterling" silver). The silversmith marks are for Eugene Schifferiet, Paris circa 1892-1902. The inside of the box with a gilt embossed label reading "Au Centenaries, Am. Tallois, Orfevre-Fabricant, Paris. Interesting given that Tallois is also a silversmith, they must have outsourced to or collaborated with this silversmith on the set. Gorgeous in any event and rare to find all original pieces together, with box and no damage. We have a host of superb antique French sterling silver pieces, sets and treasures so, be sure to browse a bit while you're with us. Thanks!
Very good condition. No chips or damage that I can see to any of the glass inserts though there may be a tiny nip or two. A tiny dimple or two to the silver salts possible but nothing noteworthy. The box does show signs of its age but is fully intact with working clasp. See pictures for all measurements.
