Gorgeous antique French sterling silver & wheel cut glass 11.5" tall 30oz wine or claret jug with ornate rococo styling, oval shaped body and fabulous condition! One of two that we're adding this week, just in from France and just in time for the Holiday season entertaining. This one beautifully ornate with sinuous foliate accented handle, pierced or reticulated silver collar and base with seashell or rocaille & foliate garland accenting and a simply stunning piece. The glass body likely Baccarat, the most prominent glass company of the time, in a unique ovoid shape with cut accents in the tapered base. The silver parts bear the French Minerve or Minerva hallmark, the tiny number "1" in the upper right of those marks means it's in .950 silver (95% pure and so higher than the .925 standard for "sterling" silver). Silversmith marks are for Alphonse Debain, Paris circa 1883-1911. A gorgeous service piece fit for royalty, don't miss it!
Very good to excellent condition. I see no flaws to note. No damage or repairs to the silver portions and no chips, cracks or damage to the glass body. The jug holds 36 fluid ounces. See pictures for all measurements.
