A beautiful little painted silk fan for doll or a child. A souvenir from mid-20th century, so not quite antique. I think the guards and sticks are an early plastic, but they have been nicely decorated and crafted. Raised gold enamel is hand-applied, and the leaf is silk fabric. No breaks, but a little bend to it, which disappears when opened to view. I think it's a doll fan and it's just charming. Would be perfect with your Bru or other antique dolls. The painting in in the c.1750s French Romantic aesthetic, but again, the little fan is not that old - perhaps around 70 years now.
Good to very good condition for age and type. Quite elegant crafting, surprising work on a toy or souvenir, really. No breaks, slight warp, having not had a box to keep the guard sticks from 'leaning'. When open, it is surprisingly gorgeous, and all the more fun for its size.
