Early, exquisite couple's 3/4 pose captured with some of their accessories, giving a real feel of their time. The paintings date c.1750s. The gentleman in his powdered wig with pony tail back, and his wife with her elaborate huge lace headdress and her fichu, white on white. She holds her hand fan, closed in her lap but showing it off. Her chatelaine watch at her waist, and quite over the top jewelry which looks to be diamonds. I'm sure the item on the table next to her is iconography but I'm unable to identify it. The gentleman holds a snuff box in his left hand, his right tucked into his vest, and a book on the table next to him. Charming poses and quite unique early frames of thick wood with pressed brass front plaques. Full measurements noted on the photos, those faces are 1/2" chin to hairline.

Very good to excellent condition for age and type, the paintings are unsigned but beautifully done in gouache on card. They are covered with a flat cover glass, and I can see no damage to report. I did not do it, but at some point they've been opened, the inner glass cleaned of the dust of centuries, and put together again and sealed from the back. I see no signature in view, and have not opened the seal or taken them out to investigate. Sometimes more info can be found within. No, the note she holds is not readable, but surely meant something to this couple. You are buying the couple as I found them, together all these centuries, they'll stay together as long as possible.
