Stunning & Rare antique to vintage French Belle Epoque era Napoleon III style liquor cellarette, "cave a liqueur" or tantalus with exquisite Boulle inlaid lid & facade and removable interior caddy holding a 20pc glassware set including four wheel cut decanters & sixteen cups or cordials! WOW, another fantastic box....and what's inside is nearly as much of a treasure as the exterior! Very Napoleon III style jet black ebonized veneers on sides and rear but the front and top are as exquisite as they come! One of the finer cellarettes, nearly perfect inside & out and definitely one of the most esthetically pleasing where the inlay is concerned! It's hard to generally tell if the inside contents are original on these old cellarettes. This one, we think, is just a bit newer than some and likely dates to the early 1900s rather than the Victorian or Napoleon III era. The boulle as impressive as can be no matter and this price is over $10k less than it’s closest competitor on 1st Dibs :). A rare and magnificent piece, don't miss it!
Very Good Condition! There is no loss or lifting to the boulle front and lid though there is some crazing to the red shell veneer. As noted, we're not sure if the glassware is original, a bit of space around the decanters when they're in the caddy but they all match and are free of any damage. As pointed out in the images, there are several mismatched/replaced cordials. Working lock with ornate skeleton key. See pictures for measurements.
