Exquisite finest shagreen or galuchat cheroot or cigarette cast, perhaps calling card case - the minuscule scales on this item exceeds anything we've had. This is leather made from the belly of stingray, and if you look closely you can see each tiny scale. Likely from very young stingray to have scales this small. A great luxury for the past several centuries, the styling here puts it between 1910-1925, and at this point, qualifies it as antique. Found in France, it does have French marks. The .800 is affirmation of 800/1000 pure silver with a high karat gold interior (vermeil). The tiny word on clasp is "Argentan" and translation identified it as silver in French. Excellent condition for age and type, without loss or damage to the typically fragile shagreen (galuchat in French). Tiniest scale ever, no tears or discoloration. No maker mark but of the quality of a maker like Hermés or similar. Silver has no dents or bends.
